Criteria Requirements
Criteria have been established in accordance with personal conversations between Daniel Airey and Dan Ashe over two separate face-to-face meetings in 2013 and 2015.
Daniel Airey gave specific powers of discretion to the co-trustees, empowering them to make decisions and be flexible in the management of the trust. The criteria is one of the main tools designed to preserve the trust funds for their intended purposes.
Criteria
No applicant has "a right to tuition assistance" (see Daniel H. Airey Sprinkle Trust, Article II, Section F.) and an applicant may be denied in full or part at the discretion of the co-trustees (see Daniel H. Airey Sprinkle Trust, Article II, Section F.)
If you are selected to receive a partial award or a full award:
You understand that the award is not a loan, but a distribution from a trust fund for your post-secondary educational pursuits.
That this award has been approved by the co-trustees of the fund.
You understand that this award may be taxable income for you, the beneficiary, and that it is your responsibility to research the possible tax implications for yourself. It is not the duty of the trust to provide you with tax advice.
FIRST TIME APPLICANTS
(UPDATE April 2023): High School GPA (senior year) must be at least a 1.5. If the applicant is applying and there has been a gap after high school or GED/equivalency, an interview will take place with one or both of the co-trustees.
You must submit a copy of your college/professional "acceptance letter" or a list of the schools where you are applying or hope to apply (UPDATE June 2024).
RE-OCCURRING APPLICANTS
Once enrolled in college or professional school, you must (UPDATE April 2023): maintain a 2.0 GPA (cumulative) or higher in order to re-apply; proof of enrollment, ie. transcripts, academic standing with GPA.
(UPDATE June 2024): The FASFA must been submitted for each year you are continuing your post-secondary education. Email both co-trustees to inform us of your updated status, tuition amounts, reimbursement requests, etc.
